Recognizing the signs of a dental emergency can help you know when to seek immediate treatment. Below are different signs that suggest you should visit the dentist for an emergency. 1. Severe Tooth Pain: Persistent and severe tooth pain is a clear sign that something is wrong and in need of attention. Toothaches can be caused by tooth decay, infection, abscess, or even a cracked tooth. Intense pain can make it difficult to go about your daily tasks so don't delay in seeking professional help. 2. Knocked-Out Tooth: It is crucial to act quickly if a tooth has fallen out. A knocked-out tooth has the highest chance of being saved if you can get to the dentist within the first hour. As soon as the tooth is knocked out, rinse it gently with water (don’t scrub) and store it in milk or saliva until you are with the dentist. 3. Broken or Fractured Tooth: A broken or fractured tooth can expose sensitive nerves, increasing chances of infection. Until you can get prompt dental care, treat your broken or fractured tooth by rinsing your mouth with warm water and applying a cold cloth to the affected area to reduce swelling. 4. Swelling or Abscess: Swelling in the face, gums, or jaw along with a bump on the gums may indicate an abscessed tooth. Dental abscesses are serious infections that require immediate treatment to prevent the spread of infection to other parts of the body. Call the dentist immediately. 5. Excessive Bleeding: Excessive and uncontrollable bleeding from the mouth for whatever reason requires immediate emergency dental care. Sustained bleeding may indicate damage to blood vessels or inadequate post-operative care. Seek help right away.

5-Star Google Review

"From my 1st call I knew this was the place for me. The coordinators found me an appointment that work for my schedule and explained everything I needed to know. The dental assistant walked me thru everything she was gonna do and what to expect once the doctor came in. The doctor got me to an endodontist to save my tooth. I look forward to seeing how Dr. Sartor can improve my smile. Thanks again Lugoff Smiles"
